Mumbai, Apr 1 MahaRERA announced on Wednesday that 1,060 housing projects were cleared by the real estate sector regulator in March, leading up to Gudi Padva, the Marathi New Year.
This included 486 projects which were issued registration numbers, corrections in 148 projects, and extensions for 426 projects.
Typically, the real estate sector experiences increased sales around the New Year, as it is considered auspicious. MahaRERA issues over 4,500 registration numbers per year.
Of the 1,060 projects which received approval, 211 were cleared by MahaRERA officials on the eve of Gudi Padva, working around the clock, according to an official statement.
From a geographical perspective, 607 projects are from the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, 321 are from Pune, 63 from Khandesh, 50 from Vidarbha, and 14 from the Marathwada region, it said.
Among the districts, Pune leads with 286 projects, followed by Mumbai Suburban with 196 projects, Thane with 185 projects, and Raigad with 110 projects, MahaRERA said.
