Mumbai, April 1 – Television actress Mahhi Vij celebrated her 44th birthday with a heartfelt post that blended self-love with a touch of nostalgia, as she shared a picture alongside a childhood throwback.
Mahhi posted on Instagram, where she shared a picture of herself in an off-shoulder, custard-colored dress, holding a birthday cake while striking a joyful pose. Adding a personal touch, the image also featured a childhood photograph of her in the background.
She also shared a series of close-up images of herself with the birthday cake.
"Happy birthday to me," she wrote as the caption.
Mahhi has appeared in numerous music videos, including "Tu, Tu Hai Wahi." She played the supporting female lead in the TV series "Akela" in 2006. Her first film was "Aparichithan" alongside Malayalam star Mammootty.
She played the lead role of Pratha in "Shubh Kadam." Her breakthrough role was that of the protagonist Nakusha in the television show "Laagi Tujhse Lagan." She was seen as a contestant in season 4 of "Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa."
In 2012, she and her former husband, Jay Bhanushali, participated in the dance reality show "Nach Baliye 5" and became the winners. In 2016, she played Nandini Shekhawat in "Balika Vadhu" after the generation leap until the show went off-air in the same year.
Mahhi is currently seen in "Seher – Hone Ko Hai." It stars Rishita Kothari and Parth Samthaan. The story is set in Lucknow. Seher aspires to be a doctor, as per her mother, Kausar’s wishes, but her father, Parvez, who ill-treats the two, is against it. The three travel to Lucknow and settle with Parvez’s second wife, Sofia.
In other news, Mahhi and Jay Bhanushali, who got married in 2011, announced their separation via a social media post on January 4.
The post read, "Today, we choose to part ways on a journey called life, yet we continue to have each other's back. Peace, growth, kindness and humanity have always been our guiding values."
They promised to be good parents to their 3 children while living their individual lives.
Mahhi and Jay further clarified that their decision does not come from a negative place, and they chose peace over drama.
In the end, the two expressed their desire to continue to remain friends and support each other.
"We continue to respect one another, support one another, and remain friends, as we always have been. With mutual respect, we ask for your respect, love and kindness as we move forward," the post concluded.
