Malappuram (Kerala), March 12 Three people were killed after a car collided with a private bus at Morayur here on Thursday, police said.
The deceased were identified as Sakkeena and Shiyas, both from Olavakkode, Palakkad, and Basila from Pandikkad in Malappuram district.
Two others, Afrida and Ibrahim, were injured and were taken to a hospital.
According to police, the accident occurred around 8 am when the deceased and injured people were travelling in a car driven by Shiyas after returning from the Kozhikode airport.
When the car reached Morayur, it reportedly lost control and collided with a private bus plying between Palakkad and Kozhikode.
Although all the passengers in the car were rushed to the hospital, three of them succumbed to their injuries, police said.
The injured people are in stable condition despite suffering fractures, police added.
The Kondotty police have registered a case and started an investigation.
Police said CCTV footage from the private bus has been recovered.
The bodies of the deceased will be handed over to their families after a post-mortem, they added.
