Date: March 11, 2026: A meeting of the District Water and Sanitation Mission (DWSM) was held today at the DC Conference Hall, Mamit, under the chairmanship of Mrs. Carolyn L.B. Khiangte, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mamit district. During the meeting, the District Technical Unit (DTU) Review Module for Jal Seva Aankalan and the District Improvement Plan based on GP assessments were discussed, and members of the DTU also received training on the Aankalan assessment process.
On this occasion, Mrs. Carolyn L.B. Khiangte, who chaired the meeting, inaugurated the Jal Mahotsav campaign, which will be observed from March 8th to March 22nd, 2026.
Er. Helen Saibuangi, Executive Engineer, PHED Mamit WATSAN Division and Member-Secretary, DWSM, highlighted the activities of the mission, including Jal Seva Aankalan, Jal Arpan Diwas, and the establishment of the District Technical Unit (DTU) to assist DWSM in various technical matters, along with other initiatives.
Given that the upcoming World Water Day falls on a Sunday, the committee agreed to observe it on the following day, i.e., March 23, 2026.
Meanwhile, World Plumbing Day was observed today at the PHED Office, Mamit WATSAN Division, chaired by Er. Helen Saibuangi, Senior Executive Engineer. During the program, water distributors and line duty personnel were honored in recognition of their dedicated service.
