
Latur, February 24 A 30-year-old man stole his mother's gold jewelry from their home in the Latur district of Maharashtra, and he was apprehended within hours of the crime, police said.
The complainant, Sunita Dagdu Bhamre (50), a resident of Bhadgaon in the Latur tehsil, reported that an unidentified person broke into her house on Monday and stole her gold jewelry, including a necklace, six rings, and two pairs of earrings.
Police launched an investigation, and through on-site inspection, local intelligence, suspect verification, and technical analysis, the investigation pointed to a 30-year-old laborer, Prashant Bhamre, an official said.
They apprehended him within three hours, and after sustained questioning, he confessed to the theft.
The police discovered that he had stolen the jewelry and hidden it inside a cupboard in his own house. After his interrogation, they recovered the valuables and returned them to his mother.
