Jammu, March 31 A man who had been on the run for nearly seven years after allegedly abducting and raping a minor girl has been arrested, police said on Tuesday.
He had been evading arrest since a case was registered against him at Janipur Police Station in Jammu in 2019.
Sunil Bhagat was arrested in Jammu after police received specific information following sustained efforts, a police spokesperson said. He is originally from Doda and resides in the Bari Brahmana area of Jammu.
Bhagat has been charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including abduction and rape, as well as provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
