Palghar, March 31 An autorickshaw driver has been arrested for brutally assaulting a four-year-old boy in Palghar district, Maharashtra, police said on Tuesday.
The arrest followed a viral video from Vasai showing the accused throwing a four-year-old boy to the ground and hitting his head against an iron rod after an argument with the boy's father.
The incident, which took place in a housing society on Monday, was captured on CCTV, police said.
The accused, identified as Sandeep Pawar, allegedly attacked the child in retaliation for a minor dispute he had with the child's father, Atul Kondhare.
CCTV footage from the housing society showed Pawar dragging the boy out of the autorickshaw by his legs and then hitting the child's head against an iron rod.
The boy was rushed to a hospital in Mira Road, where his condition is reportedly critical.
