
Chandrapur, March 13 A 36-year-old man was killed by a tiger in a village in Maharashtra's Chandrapur district, an official said on Friday.
The incident took place in Fiskuti village in Mul tehsil on Thursday night, the official said.
The victim, Vasudev Kankalwar, a resident of Junasurla, was sleeping near his flock of sheep when a large cat attacked and killed him, he said.
Forest officials from the Pombhurna range visited the site, and the body was taken to the sub-district hospital for post-mortem. The deceased man's family was immediately provided with a sum of Rs 50,000, the official said.
Recently, a tiger had similarly killed a woman farm labourer harvesting cotton in a field in Mul tehsil, he said.
