
Indian Railways has made elaborate arrangements to ensure smooth, safe, and comfortable travel for passengers during the upcoming Holi festival. To manage the anticipated increase in passenger traffic, the Railways has decided to operate 1,244 Holi Special train trips across various railway zones until the 18th of the next month. The Ministry of Railways stated that the number could increase if more demand is observed. These special services will connect major cities, state capitals, and important regional centers across the country, ensuring confirmed accommodation and reducing congestion on regular trains. East Central Railway will operate the highest number of 50 Holi Specials with 275 train trips, while Northern Railway will run 48 Holi Special Train Services with 204 trips, and Central Railway will operate 20 Holi Special Train Services with 129 trips.
The Ministry added that Western Railway has introduced 32 Holi Special Train Services with 120 trips, while South Eastern Railway has deployed 28 Holi Special Train Services with 107 trips. With these extensive arrangements across zones, Indian Railways is ensuring enhanced connectivity, adequate accommodation, and a smooth, safe, and comfortable travel experience for passengers during Holi 2026.
The Ministry stated that the large-scale operation of special services reflects Indian Railways' proactive planning to efficiently manage festive rush and minimize inconvenience to regular commuters. By strengthening connectivity between major cities, state capitals, and regional centers, these measures are set to ease congestion and facilitate timely travel for millions of passengers celebrating the festival across the country.
