Shimla, April 11 The Atal Tunnel and the surrounding Manali areas experienced light snowfall on Saturday evening.

Manali received 7 mm of rain, followed by Bhuntar with 1 mm and Kalpa with 0.4 mm, while gusty winds at 57 kmph lashed Tabo, the local Meteorological Department (Met) office said on Saturday.

The Met has predicted light rain and snow at isolated places in the state on Sunday, Thursday and Friday.

A fresh, weak Western Disturbance is likely to affect the Western Himalayan region starting April 15 (Wednesday), it added. Minimum and maximum temperatures increased.

Tabo was the coldest at night, recording a low of 0.4 degrees Celsius, while Una was the hottest during the day with a high of 29.6 degrees Celsius.

Manali residents termed the snowfall beneficial for tourism, as the summer tourist season is set to commence in the coming days.

However, the adverse weather conditions have heightened the concerns of farmers and orchardists. They said incessant rain and snowfall pose a looming threat to cherry, apple, and other crops.
