Mandaviya Launches ESIC Health Camps, Expanding Worker Wellbeing.webp

Labour and Employment Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya launched the Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) annual health check-up camps for workers aged 40 and above today, as mandated by the Labour Codes. The initiative was launched during the 75th Foundation Day celebrations of ESIC in New Delhi. Addressing the event, Dr. Mandaviya stated that this move reflects the government's strong commitment to promoting preventive healthcare and ensuring the well-being of workers across the country. He expressed his satisfaction that the implementation of the Labour Codes is beginning with several such social welfare initiatives.

Highlighting the journey of ESIC, the Minister said that the organization was established in 1952 with just one lakh twenty thousand beneficiaries. Over the years, it has significantly expanded and now provides services to more than 15 crore beneficiaries. He also noted that what started as one dispensary and one hospital has grown into a wide network of 156 hospitals, 17 medical colleges, and around sixteen hundred dispensaries across the country. He added that the steady growth of ESIC reflects the government's continued efforts to strengthen social security and healthcare coverage for workers and their families. During the event, a Memorandum of Understanding was also signed between the National Health Authority and ESIC for the convergence of the ESI Scheme with the Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, aimed at strengthening coordinated healthcare delivery and expanding access to quality services.
