
Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the PM's Office in Seva Teerth, New Delhi, today. The Deputy Chief Ministers of Manipur, Nemcha Kipgen of the BJP and Losii Dikho of the NPF, also accompanied the Chief Minister during the meeting.
This was the first time Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand met the Prime Minister after he assumed office as the State's Chief Minister on the 4th of this month.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister briefed Prime Minister Modi on the steps taken by the new State Government to bring peace and harmony to the State. He also urged the Prime Minister to pay special attention to women's empowerment in both the hills and the valleys.
The Chief Minister, Yumnam Khemchand, and his two Deputy Chief Ministers have invited the Prime Minister to visit the State.
Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh left Imphal for New Delhi on February 21, and during his stay in New Delhi, Shri Khemchand also met the Union Home Minister, Union Finance Minister, Union Defence Minister, and Union Agriculture and Rural Development Minister and discussed various development issues.
Meanwhile, under the guidance of the Chief Minister, a team of Manipur MLAs consisting of MLA S. Kunjakeshwor and MLA Kh. Ibomcha met Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari. The team requested the Union Minister to provide central assistance to improve the road infrastructure of the State.
