
Imphal, Apr 1 Union Home Minister Amit Shah has urged Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh to expedite the peace process in the state, which is grappling with ethnic conflict, according to an official statement released on Wednesday.
Shah had discussed the law and order situation in Manipur with Singh during a meeting in New Delhi on Tuesday, the statement added.
During the meeting, Shah reviewed the prevailing security situation in the state and directed the CM to expedite the peace process and strengthen the growing harmony among different communities.
Shah also gave in-principle approval for raising one Mahila India Reserve Battalion (IRB) for Manipur and asked Singh to submit a formal proposal.
