Imphal, May 11 — Manipur’s sole Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba on Sunday expressed optimism that a popular government will be established in the state within the next one or two months. He also called on political leaders to unite in tackling the state’s ongoing challenges.
Speaking on the sidelines of an event, Sanajaoba stressed that President’s Rule is not a long-term solution to Manipur’s problems.
“I strongly believe a popular government will be formed within the next one or two months. President’s rule alone cannot resolve the issues. A popular government can work more closely with the people,” he stated.
Sanajaoba, who is affiliated with the BJP, echoed public frustration over the perceived inaction of the state’s elected representatives during the ongoing crisis.
He acknowledged that the MLAs had failed to rise above personal ambitions, which, he said, contributed to the imposition of President’s Rule in the state.
“We have placed personal ambition above the state’s interests. The imposition of President’s rule happened because we prioritised power and self-interest over Manipur’s welfare,” Sanajaoba remarked.
His comments reflect growing public demand for accountable leadership and collective political action to restore stability in the conflict-hit region.
