Imphal, April 4 Manipur Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh said on Saturday that a comprehensive transfer policy for medical personnel will be framed shortly to ensure optimal staffing at the Jiri district hospital, located about 217 km from here.
Singh made the assurance during an inspection of the facility in Ningshingkhul, Jiribam district, to assess its functioning, infrastructure, and preparedness in delivering essential healthcare services to the people.
In a post on X, Singh said, "Given the critical role the hospital plays in ensuring equitable access to medical care, especially during emergencies, a detailed review was undertaken to strengthen its overall efficiency and service delivery."
"While it is reassuring that the hospital is functioning satisfactorily, a shortage of manpower has been observed. In this regard, a comprehensive transfer policy for medical personnel will be framed shortly to ensure optimal staffing. Additionally, the condition of doctors' quarters will be improved and upgraded to support and motivate our healthcare professionals," he said.
Singh asserted that the government remains committed to strengthening healthcare infrastructure and ensuring accessible, reliable, and quality medical services for every citizen.
Singh and eight MLAs reached the Jiribam district after taking a four-hour road trip via NH 37.
He was warmly received at the Leingangpokpi police outpost by the deputy commissioner, SP, and other officials, where "a detailed review of ground realities was conducted to ensure that governance remains responsive, effective, and people-centric," officials said.
