
February 23, New Delhi – In a moment of pride for India, "Boong," an Indian Manipuri film, has won a BAFTA in the Best Children's and Family Film category.
This is the first Indian film to receive a nomination in this category, and with this film, a new chapter in film history has been written.
The film was produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani's Excel Entertainment. Directed by debutant Lakshmipriya Devi, the film is a coming-of-age drama about a young boy named Boong from a valley in Manipur, who plans to surprise his mother with a gift. And what better gift could he give his mother than to bring his father back, despite his disbelief that his father, Joykumar, has died after migrating.
