In a major victory for the Indian government's efforts to combat Left-Wing Extremism (LWE), 108 Maoists, including 44 women, surrendered in Bastar district, Chhattisgarh, on Wednesday, officials reported. These individuals were carrying a combined reward of Rs 3.29 crore.

Besides a large cache of weapons and Rs 3.61 crore in cash, approximately 1 kilogram of gold valued at around Rs 1.64 crore were recovered from Maoist hideouts, the highest seizure of cash and valuables from a single location in the country's anti-Naxal operations, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Bastar Range, Sundarraj Pattilingam, told
