Maoist Surrenders in Jharkhand with 5 Lakh Bounty.webp

Latehar, April 2 A Maoist, who carried a bounty of Rs 5 lakh on his head, surrendered to the police in Latehar district, Jharkhand, on Thursday, officials said.

Surendra Lohra, also known as "Tiger ji," was a "sub-zonal commander" of the Jharkhand Jan Mukti Parishad (JJMP), a splinter group of the CPI (Maoist), they said.

"Lohra has been involved in Maoist activities for the past 20 years. He started as a member of the CPI (Maoist) and later joined the JJMP," said Inspector General (Palamu) Shailendra Kumar Sinha.

He added that, besides the police, Lohra's wife and children also played a significant role in his surrender.

Sinha said that a total of 23 Maoists surrendered to the police in 2025, while five more did so in 2026.
