Ranchi, March 21 Senior BJP leader Babulal Marandi wrote to Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Saturday, alleging that bulletproof vehicles were not being properly utilized.
In the letter, Marandi, who is also the leader of the opposition in the Jharkhand Assembly, stated that in December 2024, the home department purchased 17 bulletproof vehicles for the movement of VIPs, including the CM, former CMs, Governor, and others.
"Out of these 17 new bulletproof vehicles, three have been allocated for your (CM) use, two to Raj Bhavan, and the remaining 12 vehicles have been kept in the Headquarters Reserve Transport (HQRT) under the name of VIP Movement," Babulal mentioned in the letter.
He claimed that most of these vehicles were not being properly utilized.
"If these vehicles are not used, then what was the need to purchase them? The money spent on them could have been saved," he added.
He alleged that the vehicles provided to former CMs are 10–12 years old and their condition is not good.
"Even the bulletproof vehicle allotted to me is quite old and keeps breaking down repeatedly," he claimed.
He said that the unused vehicles should be allocated to the chief secretary, DGP, home secretary, and cabinet secretary.
