Tirupati, March 30 Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said that over one lakh donors, known as "Margadarsis," have come forward to adopt more than 10 lakh families as part of the "poverty alleviation" program called P4, over the past year.
Naidu launched the 'P4 Margadarsi - Bangaru Kutumbam' program on March 30, 2025, in Amaravati, which aims for the top 10 per cent of society to adopt the bottom 20 per cent to guide and mentor them "out of poverty".
Under the scheme, "affluent" individuals who volunteer to support economically weaker families are referred to as Margadarsis (mentors), while the beneficiaries are referred to as Bangaru Kutumbams (golden families).
"It has been a year since we started this great initiative to achieve a poverty-free society... In 12 months, 1.06 lakh Margadarsis came forward to adopt 10.3 lakh families," said Naidu, commemorating the first anniversary of the Public-Private People Partnership (P4) program.
Thanking the Margadarsis, the CM noted that the society has witnessed both an increase in wealth and inequalities, adding that the "poverty alleviation" program aims to create better living standards for all by 2047.
In Kuppam, the Assembly constituency represented by Naidu, he said that three companies are implementing P4, adopting nearly 9,000 families. In the second year of the "poverty alleviation" program, Naidu called for renewed vigor to achieve greater progress.
Further, the CM called on Telugu people across the world to contribute wherever possible, out of respect for him and the state, to be useful to society and families. Moreover, he also distributed some awards to outstanding Margadarsis.
