Washim, Feb 19 A total of 26 college staff members have been booked in connection with a mass cheating incident during the HSC exams in Washim district of Maharashtra, an official said on Thursday.

The mass cheating incident came to light during a surprise inspection by the flying squad on February 16, during the Physics exam at the Shri Mainagiri Maharaj Junior College examination center, the Zilla Parishad official said.

"It was found that 581 students allegedly indulged in mass cheating at the center, following which 26 staff members posted there were booked. The education department has submitted a proposal to the concerned college to suspend these 26 individuals," he said.

The answer sheets of the students involved in the mass cheating are being scrutinized, and action will be taken according to board regulations, the ZP official added.
