
New Delhi, April 10 President Droupadi Murmu expressed her condolences on Friday for the loss of lives in the Mathura boat accident and prayed for the speedy recovery of those who were injured.
A boat carrying tourists, primarily from Punjab, capsized in the Yamuna River in Vrindavan (under the Mathura district) on Friday afternoon, resulting in at least 10 deaths and several others missing, officials said.
The accident occurred near Kesi Ghat when the boat, carrying over two dozen tourists, moved into deeper waters and collided with a floating pontoon, they said.
"I am deeply saddened to hear about the deaths of several people in a boat accident in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh. I extend my deepest condolences to the bereaved families. I pray for the swift recovery of those who have been injured," Murmu said in a post on X in Hindi.
