Prayagraj, April 10 The Allahabad High Court heard an amendment application filed by the Muslim side in the Krishna Janmabhoomi-Shahi Idgah dispute in Mathura on Friday.
After hearing the amendment application, Justice Avnish Saxena fixed May 15 as the next date of hearing in the case.
The controversy concerns the Shahi Idgah mosque, built during the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb's reign, which the Hindu side claims was built after demolishing a temple at the birthplace of Lord Krishna.
The Hindu side has filed 18 lawsuits seeking possession of the land, "removal" of the Shahi Idgah mosque structure, "restoration" of the temple, and a permanent injunction in the matter.
On August 1, 2024, the high court had rejected the applications filed by the Muslim side, challenging the maintainability of the lawsuits filed by Hindu worshippers.
In that order, the court also stated that these lawsuits are not barred by the Limitation Act, the Waqf Act, and the Places of Worship Act, 1991, which prohibits the conversion of any religious structure as it existed on August 15, 1947.
