Maulana Raza’s Bail Hearing Continues Amidst Bareilly Case.webp

Prayagraj, March 12 The Allahabad High Court will continue hearing on bail applications filed by Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan and other accused in the Bareilly violence case of last year on Friday, officials said.

Justice Ashutosh Srivastava is hearing the bail applications of Tauqeer Raza and several others. Raza has been in jail since October 13, 2025, in connection with the case.

On September 26 last year, clashes broke out in Bareilly between police and a large crowd that had gathered outside a mosque after Friday prayers, allegedly after a call given by Raza, even after police had denied permission for a demonstration.

Despite prohibitory orders in place, a crowd of about 200-250 people gathered and proceeded from the Maulana Azad Inter College towards the Shyamganj Chauraha.

The protesters allegedly pelted stones at the security personnel, prompting police to resort to a lathi charge to control the situation. Some alleged that the protesters also fired shots.

According to the FIR, two police officers were injured in the clashes.

More than 90 people have been arrested in the case, many of them for allegedly conspiring to incite riots "under the guise of protests."
