Thane, February 27 Thane Mayor Sharmila Pimpalolkar has directed the civic administration to clean all drains in the city before the monsoon season, an official said on Friday.
During a review of the Solid Waste Management Department's work at the Thane Municipal Corporation headquarters, she instructed officials to begin clearing silt from nullahs next month and complete the task by the end of May.
She also sought improved maintenance of public toilets, adequate water supply, and better upkeep, the official added.
The mayor called for stronger awareness campaigns on waste segregation, particularly in slum areas, and emphasized the effective implementation of the 'Swachh Thane Vision' initiative.
