New Delhi, March 22 Illegal liquor was seized in the Chandni Chowk area of Delhi during a surprise inspection led by MCD Standing Committee Chairperson Satya Sharma on Sunday, officials said.
In a statement and video shared on her official X handle, Sharma alleged lapses on the part of enforcement agencies.
"During a surprise inspection, illegal liquor was seized in the Chandni Chowk area. Such activities are flourishing due to the collusion of the Delhi Police and the negligence of the MCD," she said.
Calling the issue serious, Sharma said directions have been issued for an immediate inquiry and strict action against those responsible.
"This is a very serious issue that requires strict action. Instructions have been given to the concerned officers to immediately investigate and take strict action against the culprits, so that such incidents can be completely stopped in the future," she added.
There was no immediate response from the Delhi Police or the Municipal Corporation of Delhi on the allegations.
