Chennai, March 17 The MDMK, an ally of the ruling DMK, released its manifesto for the upcoming assembly elections on Tuesday.

The manifesto addresses several regional and social issues, including state autonomy, the welfare of fishermen, the abolition of the post of Governor, the permanent closure of the Sterlite copper plant, and the complete abolition of child marriage.

Releasing the document, MDMK founder Vaiko said a dedicated panel travelled across the state for three months, incorporating recommendations and feedback from the people, to ensure that the promises reflect the ground reality.

As part of the DMK-led alliance, the MDMK has been allotted four seats to contest. Three of these seats will be contested under the DMK's 'Rising Sun' symbol, while the fourth will be contested under its own symbol.
