The formal inauguration of Shillong Medical College is pending the availability of Prime Minister Narendra Modi or Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda. State Health Minister Wailadmiki Shylla stated that the government desires a significant event for the long-awaited project. Previous dates were discussed with the PMO and the Union Health Ministry, but were postponed due to scheduling conflicts. He added that efforts are underway to finalize a new date, with the government keen to hold the inauguration soon as the first MBBS session is already in progress.
