As a significant initiative to connect local youth with employment opportunities, the Kathua District Administration, in collaboration with the District Employment and Career Counselling Centre (DE&CC), organized a Mega Job Fair at the Sports Stadium here.

The event was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma, who interacted with participating employers and job seekers and appreciated the efforts aimed at enhancing employment linkages for local youth.

The job fair witnessed an enthusiastic response from across the district, with more than 600 job seekers attending the event to explore career opportunities in various sectors. Over 20 industries and companies participated in the recruitment drive, collectively offering more than 500 vacancies for skilled, semi-skilled, and fresh candidates.

Prominent organizations participating in the fair included leading firms from manufacturing, beverages, textiles, security services, agro-based industries, and the insurance sector, among others. The available job roles covered diverse fields such as manufacturing, sales, marketing, finance, and technical services, catering to a wide range of professional interests and skill sets.

During the recruitment process, more than 500 candidates were screened by the participating companies. Of these, 393 candidates were shortlisted for further stages, while 116 candidates secured on-the-spot selections for various positions.

The Deputy Commissioner reviewed the arrangements at the venue and encouraged youth to actively utilize such platforms to connect with industries and explore suitable employment opportunities. He also lauded the efforts of the District Employment and Career Counselling Centre and participating industries for facilitating job opportunities for local youth.

A dedicated Mission YUVA awareness and registration desk was also set up at the venue to inform young participants about the initiative’s objectives and benefits. Information regarding the Job Matching Platform under Mission YUVA was provided, enabling employers to post vacancies and job seekers to explore and apply for suitable opportunities.

The job fair was coordinated by the District Employment and Career Counselling Centre under the supervision of Assistant Director Employment Piyusha Khajuria.
