The State's Public Health and Environment Minister, Marquis N. Marak, announced that the department had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Jal Shakti to further implement the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) 2.0, a scheme aimed at providing water supply to every household.
Speaking today, the Minister stated that Phase 2.1 of the project has already progressed, although the work is not yet fully completed. Preparations for implementing the scheme under Phase 2.0 are moving rapidly before work begins on the ground.
At the same time, he stated that pending bills amounting to approximately ₹900 crore are still outstanding for contractors who carried out the earlier JJM works. The government will release the payments once the necessary arrangements are in place.
Under this scheme, the government will introduce a "Sujalam Bharat ID" for all projects to track progress and ensure water supply from source to households in every village using technology. After completion, the projects will be handed over to local authorities through a process called "Jal Arpan".
