Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma has appealed for peace in West Garo Hills amid the prevailing tension in the region. He stated that the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council election has been postponed in response to public sentiments and demands. The Chief Minister also denied allegations that he had ordered security forces to fire on people, clarifying that forces were deployed only to maintain law and order. Sangma urged the public to prioritize the welfare of the Achik community and cooperate in maintaining peace and harmony in the region.
