Metro Train Speeds Reduced Due to Cable Theft.webp

New Delhi, March 12 The theft of over 500 meters of signaling cables on the newly inaugurated Delhi Metro corridor between Deepali Chowk and Majlis Park disrupted train speeds on Thursday.

According to an official, train services on the Magenta Line from Deepali Chowk to Majlis Park were regulated on Thursday morning after the theft of over 500 meters of signaling cables in the section between the Bhalaswa and Majlis Park stations.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had inaugurated the Majlis Park to Maujpur-Babarpur stretch of the Pink Line and the Deepali Chowk-Majlis Park stretch of the line on Sunday.

The theft forced trains to run at a restricted speed of 25 kmph between the Bhalaswa and Majlis Park metro stations.

An official said that the installation of signaling cables cannot be carried out during peak hours without affecting passenger services. To minimize inconvenience, restoration work will be undertaken at night after passenger operations have ended.

According to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, regular announcements were made at stations and inside trains along the affected section to keep passengers informed.
