MGL Addresses Gas Supply Concerns Due to Geopolitical Events.webp

Mumbai, March 10 Mahanagar Gas Ltd (MGL) clarified on Tuesday that it is not currently facing any reduction in gas availability, and the company continues to maintain normal supplies of compressed natural gas (CNG) and piped natural gas (PNG) across its operational areas.

However, the company stated that if gas supplies to MGL are disrupted due to disruptions in the import of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the conflict-affected West Asia, there could be some impact on supplies to its industrial and commercial customers.

In a statement, MGL said that it receives 100 per cent of the gas required to meet domestic household supplies from domestically produced gas.

The city gas distributor's statement comes amid disruptions in the global fuel supply chain due to the ongoing conflict in West Asia, where the US-Israel war on Iran entered its 11th day on Tuesday.

In light of the prevailing geopolitical developments affecting global energy markets, there have been speculations regarding a possible curtailment of gas supplies by MGL to its customers, the company said.

According to the company, a large majority of the gas required for its CNG supply is also domestically produced.

However, the impact on gas supply to the company's industrial and commercial customers would be mitigated as almost all of these customers have access to several alternative hydrocarbon fuels, MGL said.
