
Aizawl, March 18, 2026: The Chief Minister of Mizoram, Pu Lalduhoma, chaired the second meeting of the Mizoram Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation (Mi-PRAGATI) at the Chief Minister’s Conference Hall. Several members attended the meeting in person, while others joined via video conference.
Mi-PRAGATI has been established to monitor major development projects across the state, address implementation challenges, and strengthen inter-departmental coordination. The initiative aims to ensure faster, more efficient, and transparent delivery of public services to the people.
During the meeting, key projects and initiatives were reviewed, including the Aizawl Western Side Bypass Road, works undertaken by NHIDCL, implementation of the PM SHRI Scheme, PMJVK projects, and Railway developments.
The Aizawl Western Side Bypass Road project has achieved 19.56% physical progress so far. Discussions covered issues related to land acquisition and resettlement of affected families, compensation demands from private quarry owners, crop damages caused during construction, forest clearance, and challenges in debris disposal.
Regarding the Vairengte–Aizawl 4-lane road project, it was noted that the issue of shifting electric power lines, raised in the previous meeting, has been resolved. Other ongoing challenges were also discussed along with their possible solutions. The total length of the project is 90.110 km, of which 60.295 km is planned under Greenfield alignment.
Under the PM SHRI (Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India) Scheme, 35 government schools in Mizoram have been selected, to be implemented in six phases. In the first phase, work has commenced in 22 schools.
Under the PMJVK scheme, 104 projects have been approved in Mizoram. Of these, 84 have been completed, while 18 are currently under implementation. Additional projects are also awaiting sanction.
The meeting also discussed the survey for the proposed Sairang–Thenzawl railway line. Railway authorities informed that the alignment up to Thenzawl has been finalized at the preliminary stage.
Mi-PRAGATI was established in August last year. The Chief Secretary serves as the Member Secretary, while members include Principal Secretaries, Secretaries, Deputy Commissioners, and heads of Central Government departments and agencies in the state.
