Los Angeles, April 3 Rising British star Damson Idris will star in "The Lord's Day," the upcoming series based on a novel by "House of Cards" author Michael Dobbs.

The action thriller show, produced by Bad Wolf, a prominent UK-based independent production company known for backing popular series "Industry" and "Doctor Who," will be streamed by Netflix.

Idris became a global star after appearing in "F1," the blockbuster racing movie directed by Joseph Kosinski and starring Brad Pitt. He is also known for his roles in shows such as "Snowfall," "Black Mirror," and the film "Outside the Wire."

In "The Lord's Day," Idris will play the role of Harry Jones, a former British spy and convicted traitor, who must use his skills and training to save the British government from a hostage situation as the Palace of Westminster goes into lockdown and Parliament becomes enemy territory due to the threat within the building itself, according to the official logline.

Dobbs, who is himself a member of the House of Lords, is renowned for his political thriller novels, particularly "House of Cards," which was previously adapted into a series by Netflix. The show, which ran for six seasons, featured Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright in the lead roles.

"The Lord's Day" is written by Jonathan Brackley and Sam Vincent, best known as the creators of "Spooks" and "Humans." It is directed by Ben Chanan, who previously worked on series such as "The Capture" and "The Missing."

Jane Tranter, one of the founders of Bad Wolf, and Dan McCulloch will serve as executive producers.

Besides "The Lord's Day," Idris will also star in the fantasy epic "Children of Blood and Bone," directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, known for "The Old Guard" and "The Woman King."
