February 21, New Delhi – Microsoft has announced the retirement of long-time Xbox chief, Phil Spencer.

Former Instacart COO, Asha Sharma, has assumed the role of CEO of Microsoft Gaming, reporting to CEO Satya Nadella, while Matt Booty has been named Chief Content Officer.

Xbox President, Sarah Bond, is also stepping down. These changes come as Microsoft prioritizes cloud computing and artificial intelligence growth.

Spencer led Xbox for 12 years, overseeing key acquisitions including Activision Blizzard and expanding the brand to over 500 million monthly users.

The company says it is entering a new phase focused on innovative business models and gaming experiences.
