Peshawar, March 27 At least three children were killed and three others were injured when militants ambushed the vehicle of a tribal elder in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Pakistan, police said on Friday.
The attack took place on Thursday in Wana, the headquarters of the South Waziristan district, when gunmen opened fire on the vehicle carrying six children from the family of tribal elder Malik Sardar Wazir.
According to police, Wazir's three children died on the spot, while three others sustained injuries.
The injured were immediately taken to a hospital.
Security forces rushed to the scene shortly after the incident and launched a search operation to apprehend those involved. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
