Minister Calls for Responsible Online Practices.webp

February 26, New Delhi – Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, emphasized that human society is built on institutions founded on trust, while addressing the Digital News Publishers Association Conclave 2026 today. He stated that platforms that use journalistic content must share value equitably with those who produce it, and warned that failure to adhere to these principles would have consequences.

Ashwini Vaishnaw stressed that platforms must recognize their role in reinforcing trust in the institutions that human society has built over thousands of years. He highlighted that platforms are responsible for the content they host, including ensuring the online safety of children and all citizens.

The minister also cautioned against generating synthetic content without the consent of the person whose face, voice, or personality is being used. "It is time to make that significant change," he said, urging platforms to cooperate with society's basic needs and respect the demand for responsible online practices.
