
Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, reviewed the agricultural situation across the country with senior officials in New Delhi today. The meeting followed a discussion on the crops damaged due to untimely rain and hailstorms in several states. In a social media post, Mr. Chouhan stated that instructions have been issued for immediate surveys and necessary actions to ensure that farmers receive relief as quickly as possible. He added that instructions were also given to ensure smooth procurement at the Minimum Support Price, so that farmers can receive fair prices for their produce. The Minister further informed that it has been decided to organize regional conferences in various regions of the country for the upcoming Kharif season, so that better strategies can be formulated for the Kharif crop according to local needs.
