Today, Minister of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, urged people to plant trees to protect the environment. He made this appeal while addressing a special program organized to mark the completion of five years of his unique tree plantation pledge in New Delhi.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Chouhan stated that planting trees is the most effective way to save the environment. He emphasized the need to create a platform to connect a large number of people with the plantation campaign and transform it into a mass movement.
The Minister also proposed the establishment of Tree Banks to support the initiative. He said that saplings would be made available through these Banks, with proper arrangements for planting and care.
The event celebrated the green journey that Mr. Chouhan initiated on this day in 2021. On the occasion of Narmada Jayanti, he planted saplings at Amarkantak and resolved to plant at least one sapling every day.
