
Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, has announced that the Khelo India Tribal Games (KITG) will be held in Chhattisgarh between March 26th and April 6th. The inaugural edition of the Tribal Games will be held in three cities of the state, including Raipur, Jagdalpur, and Sarguja, and will feature seven medal sports, including athletics, football, hockey, weightlifting, archery, swimming, and wrestling.
Dr. Mandaviya stated that the Games are part of providing every young person who wants to play a sport with an opportunity and a platform. The Minister noted that sports will play a crucial role in identifying the talent emerging in tribal areas and in achieving the vision of a developed India. Dr. Mandaviya further stated that the government is ensuring that talented youngsters from tribal communities are identified early, systematically supported, and integrated into the national sports framework.
The Khelo India Tribal Games are part of the Khelo India Scheme by the government, aimed at promoting mass participation and sporting excellence.
