
The government has approved and released over five hundred ninety-two crore rupees in Untied Grants to Panchayati Raj Institutions and Rural Local Bodies in Maharashtra and Goa during the Financial Year (FY) 2025-26. The Ministry of Panchayati Raj stated that these Untied Grants will be used by Panchayati Raj Institutions and Rural Local Bodies to address location-specific needs. Under this tranche, the withheld portion of the first installment for Maharashtra in the Untied Grants for FY 2024-25, amounting to approximately 79 crore rupees, has been released. The Ministry also announced that grants have been sanctioned for 12 eligible District Panchayats, 125 eligible Block Panchayats, and 27 eligible Gram Panchayats. In addition, the first installment of Untied Grants for FY 2024-25, amounting to over 12 crore rupees, has been released for Goa, covering 2 eligible District Panchayats and all 191 eligible Gram Panchayats in the state. These Untied Grants can be used for basic services, including sanitation and maintaining ODF status, supplying drinking water, rainwater harvesting, and water recycling.
