New Delhi, April 2 The newly appointed Deputy Leader of AAP in the Rajya Sabha, Ashok Mittal, on Thursday described the removal of his predecessor, Raghav Chadha, as a normal process within the party, with no specific reasons behind it.
Addressing a press conference, Mittal, who is a Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab, said that he was unaware of rumors that Chadha might join the BJP following his removal as Deputy Leader in the House.
However, he stated that Chadha would be given the opportunity to speak in the Rajya Sabha.
Earlier in the day, sources had said that AAP had sent a letter to the Rajya Sabha secretariat requesting the removal of Chadha and also for not allotting him time to speak from the party's allocated quota.
Mittal, however, said, "Everyone in our party gets the opportunity to speak; it is a democratic process. Raghav Chadha will also be given the opportunity to speak in the Rajya Sabha in the future."
He asserted that AAP is a democratic party that assigns responsibilities to its leaders, and added that the party would decide on Chadha's role in the upcoming Punjab Assembly elections.
Mittal described Chadha's replacement as a normal process within the AAP and stated that there was no specific reason behind it.
