April 1, Aizawl: The Chief Minister was assisted by key officials from the Census Operations Directorate, the General Administration Department, and the Aizawl Municipal Corporation. He extended his best wishes to the officials for the successful execution of the upcoming census operations.
The 2027 Census of India will be conducted in two phases. The first phase, the Houselist and Housing Census, begins today, April 1, 2026. The second phase, Population Enumeration, is scheduled to commence in February 2027. This will be the first-ever digital census conducted in the country, introducing the option for citizens to self-enumerate.
The window for Self-Enumeration is open from April 1 to April 15, 2026. Following this, the manual Houselist and Housing Census will be carried out across the entire state of Mizoram from April 16 to May 15, 2026. Citizens opting for self-enumeration can register using their mobile phones via the official portal (se.census.gov.in). Upon submitting the form, a Self-Enumeration ID (SE ID) will be generated, which must be provided to the enumerators during their physical visit.
Home Minister K. Sapdanga also completed his self-enumeration at his residence at 9:30 AM, while Public Works Department Minister Vanlalhlana also completed his registration earlier at 9:00 AM.
To ensure a smooth, accurate, and efficient census process, the government has urged all citizens to actively participate by utilizing the self-enumeration facility.
