
New Delhi, March 31 A 46-year-old woman was killed after an electric car collided with a rickshaw in northwest Delhi's Model Town area, causing her to fall on the road and sustain serious head injuries, an official said on Tuesday.
The incident took place near Satyawati Cut on GTK Road on Monday, when the vehicle crashed into the rickshaw in which the victim, Kiran Devi, was travelling.
A PCR call regarding the accident was received at Model Town Police Station, following which police teams rushed to the spot. Upon arrival, they found the damaged rickshaw and the car involved in the collision.
Police said the injured woman was taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
Another injured person, Puran Mal, was shifted to Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital for treatment.
"Preliminary investigation revealed that the electric car hit the rickshaw, leading to the fatal injuries sustained by the woman," the officer said.
An FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including sections 281 (rash or negligent driving/riding on a public way), 125(a) (rash or negligent acts that endanger human life or personal safety), and 106(1) (causing death by rash or negligent acts), in connection with the incident.
Police said that the driver of the car, Anjali Arora, has been arrested and the offending vehicle seized. "We are examining CCTV footage from nearby areas to ascertain the circumstances under which the accident occurred," the officer said.
Further investigation into the matter is in progress, police added.
