A young scholar from Pulwama establishes a high-tech polyhouse under HADP, transforming from job seeker to job creator and promoting modern agriculture while generating local employment.
February 24, Pulwama: In an inspiring example of educated youth opting for entrepreneurship, a young scholar from Pulwama district has successfully ventured into agri-entrepreneurship by setting up a high-tech polyhouse under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP).
Nisar Ahmad, a resident of Trichoo village, holds an MPhil degree along with postgraduate qualifications. Instead of following the conventional path of seeking a government job, he chose to utilize his education and skills in the agriculture sector by adopting modern and innovative farming practices.
With assistance under the HADP scheme, he established a high-tech polyhouse equipped with advanced infrastructure that enables cultivation of vegetables and other crops in a controlled environment. This has ensured higher productivity, improved quality produce throughout the year, and enhanced income generation.
Sharing his experience, Nisar Ahmad said that education should not be limited to securing government employment. He said that education empowers individuals to think independently and create opportunities not only for themselves but also for others, adding that youth should aim to become job creators rather than job seekers.
His initiative has strengthened his family’s economic condition and has also generated direct and indirect employment opportunities for several local youths, contributing to the socio-economic development of the area.
The success story stands as a strong example of how education, innovation, and effective utilization of government schemes can encourage self-reliance and inspire a new generation of youth in Jammu and Kashmir.
