Modi Highlights Shah's Parliamentary Address.webp

New Delhi, March 12 Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday for his speech delivered in the Lok Sabha at the end of the debate on the resolution seeking the removal of Om Birla as Speaker.

Modi noted that Shah's address was rich in facts and outlined the importance of Parliamentary traditions as well as the importance of working collectively for national progress.

Responding to the two-day-long debate, the home minister criticized the opposition for bringing the no-confidence motion against Birla as Speaker and asserted that the House will be run by its rules and not by the rules of a party.

"A fine speech by Home Minister Shri Amitbhai Shah. His address is rich in facts and outlines the importance of Parliamentary traditions as well as the importance of working collectively for national progress," Modi said in a post on X.

During his speech on Wednesday, the home minister shared Rahul Gandhi's attendance in the House and other statistics to rebut allegations of bias made by opposition members against the Speaker.

Shah also said, "We never suppressed the voice of the opposition. The voice of opposition was suppressed during the Emergency when leaders were put in jail. False propaganda is being spread that opposition leaders are not allowed to speak. Rahul Gandhi said he is not allowed to speak. But the fact is he doesn't want to speak in the Lok Sabha".
