New Delhi, April 1 Tennis legend Leander Paes met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, who praised his achievements.
Paes joined the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday.
"Had a great meeting with Shri Leander Paes. India is very proud of his accomplishments in tennis. We discussed a wide range of issues. His passion for sports and nation-building is truly admirable," Modi said in a post on X, where he also uploaded a picture of himself with the former tennis player.
After joining the BJP, Paes had said that it was "not just a formality but a responsibility" and a great opportunity to serve the country.
