Lucknow/Noida, March 28 Uttar Pradesh BJP president Pankaj Chaudhary hailed the inauguration of the Noida International Airport on Saturday, saying the state has emerged as a new identity of development, trust, and global opportunities under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Modi inaugurated the first phase of the airport, built at an investment of around Rs 11,200 crore, in the presence of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and several senior leaders.
According to a statement issued from the BJP headquarters, Chaudhary, who is also the Union minister of state for finance, said the inauguration of the Jewar International Airport was not merely the launch of an infrastructure project but a "historic moment" that would elevate the future of western UP, the state's economy, and the vision of a developed India.
"This airport is a living example of the prime minister's visionary thinking, strong leadership, and commitment to establishing Uttar Pradesh among the most developed states in the country," he said.
Chaudhary said the Noida International Airport would open new avenues for industry, trade, tourism, exports, logistics, investment, and employment across the state, particularly benefiting regions such as Gautam Buddh Nagar, Noida, Greater Noida, and the Yamuna Expressway area.
He said the project would generate employment for lakhs of youth, connect farmers to markets, provide new facilities to traders, and make UP more attractive for investors.
Highlighting ongoing infrastructure development, he said projects such as the rapid rail, metro networks, expressways, and the near-complete Ganga Expressway are collectively creating a new development framework in western UP.
"The BJP government is committed to making Uttar Pradesh a national model of development, modernity, self-reliance, and good governance. Jewar International Airport is a historic chapter in that transformative journey," he added.
Chief minister's advisor and former bureaucrat Awanish Awasthi said the airport would bring significant transformation to the region.
He noted that during recent visits by Chief Minister Adityanath to Singapore and Japan, investors had shown keen interest in the region, and said the pace of development in and around the airport area is accelerating rapidly.
"This will become a major hub. Investment will generate employment, and local people will not need to migrate elsewhere for jobs," he said.
Former CEO of Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority and retired IAS officer Arun Vir Singh said the project was a "dream" of Modi and Adityanath, and it was the responsibility of local authorities to bring it to fruition.
"We all feel proud at this moment," he said, adding that the airport is unique as it is being developed with 100 per cent foreign direct investment (FDI).
Singh also previously served as CEO of Noida International Airport Limited, the implementing agency for the project.
Gautam Buddh Nagar MP Mahesh Sharma said the occasion was a matter of pride for the people of the region.
"The dream we saw is now becoming a reality. Modi ji delivers what he promises," he said.
