
The holy month of Ramadan will begin today, as the moon was sighted yesterday evening in many parts of the country. Today marks the first day of fasting during this holy month. Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, and Eid-ul-Fitr is celebrated at the end of the fasting month.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated the people on the beginning of Ramadan. In a social media post, Mr. Modi said "Ramadan Mubarak" and expressed hope that this auspicious month will further strengthen the spirit of unity in society. He also expressed his hope for peace and prosperity everywhere.
